What is a Microsoft 365 access review?
An access review is a scheduled check of who can reach a piece of content, sent to the person who owns it. IT builds the review over the users and groups with access across Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, Power Automate and Power Apps, then shares the report with the content owners. The owners decide what to update for the content they own, so permissions get corrected by the people who know the context.
How is this different from Microsoft Entra ID access reviews?
Entra ID access reviews cover group and application membership. Rencore Governance complements them by reviewing access to the content itself: SharePoint sites and files, Teams, Power Automate flows and Power Apps. Each review is routed to the owner of that object rather than to a central admin.
Who completes an access review, and how is it tracked?
The owner of the content completes it. You set a deadline in days and choose the review scope, which can cover owners, members, visitors, site access and file access. Rencore Governance tracks the completion rate for each review, so IT can see at a glance which reviews are still outstanding.
